The first day of our December 2013 Premiere Firearms Auction presents an unique opportunity for those looking to get started collecting firearms or maybe even seeking a gift for that son or daughter who is just starting to hunt on their own. Make no mistake, we will still have all the amazing, world class, high end collectables that you've come to know and expect from Rock Island Auction Company. If you haven't seen some of them yet, be sure to glance through the pages of our mailer by
clicking here. In a turn of events sure to benefit beginning collectors, this Premiere Auction also has a number of high quality pieces with affordable prices.
In the regular course of our auctions we typically encourage those just starting out to attend our Regional or Internet Only Auctions. These two auctions offer fantastic guns at prices more accessible to beginning collectors and also have plenty of collector firearms that still have plenty of shooting life left in them. However,
Friday, December 6th, the first day of the sale, will host a slew of items ready to be purchased by collectors of all levels. Shoppers of the Regional and Online Only Auctions need not wait; the December Premiere Auction will have plenty of choices available!
- Over 300 lots have the low estimate at $1,000 or LESS
- Over 600 lots have the low estimate at $1,500 or LESS
- Over 770 lots have the low estimate at $2,000 or LESS
It's a great chance to find the guns you love and prices you want. Show you some examples, you say? Ask and you shall receive. Let's take a look at a few of our more popular genres.
Winchesters
There are 450 Winchesters in this auction with the highest estimate belonging to
Lot 1007 ringing in at $150,000 - $225,000. Does that mean one can't find attractive, affordable Winchesters? Certainly not.

Colts
Colts are regarded as one of the "blue chips" of gun collecting. This auction will feature over 600 Colts! It's one of the most abundant categories thanks to several noted collectors choosing to trust RIAC with their life's work. There is everything from 6 different Paterson revolvers to a Model 1874 Gatling gun and everything in between. The Colts that will sell in December are truly spectacular in condition, special features, and rarity. Here's some great examples that will cross the block and won't break the bank.

Modern
Time to change things up by juxtaposing the classic with the contemporary. The price bubble on these guns is reducing in size, meaning that many are finally more affordable than they have been in a long time.

The Smith & Wesson firearms in this auction aren't as plentiful as some of the other categories, but they more than hold their own when it comes to rarity and excellence. Early Volcanics rub elbows with the scarce Model 320 revolving rifles (there are three) and this is the second auction in a row that RIAC will sell a Smith & Wesson revolver that was exhibited at the 1893 Columbia Exposition, also known as the Chicago World's Fair. Here are a few that will be a fine addition to any collection.

We regularly get this type of high quality collector firearms, but we can still find something for beginning collectors and even those who want something to shoot.
